This Lucky Store most certainly represents a noticeable change since the Lucky stores of the 1960s when customer service-oriented employees would be there to help shoppers in the aisles and a full row of capable friendly checkout clerks would keep those cash registers clacking. Eager box boys-and-girls would bag the groceries into high-grade free paper bags and unload the bags into the vehicles without request. Shopping at Luckys was a positive experience to which one would look forward.
My word, what has happened since 1972 when I moved to Oregon where Lucky stores do not exist?
In this well overpriced and particularly understaffed-impersonal Lucky I find no customer service in the aisles and only one slow checkout lane among several lanes collecting dust and taking-up needed space if they are unused. Confusing self-checkout contraptions only frustrate valuable patrons and offer no spirit of warm human interaction to make a memorable shopping experience. Who recommend those laughable inventions???
Here one entrance to the supermarket is actually locked-and-barricaded in the evening, making the fortress further uninviting-and-difficult to those who are trying to patronize the business and are presented with an obstacle course just to finally enter the market.
One seeking to purchase just a few items can an not even locate a carry basket!!!
I also see an inconsistent-and-understaffed deli here. Many times a customer who goes here to order a personalized sandwich might be made to feel very guilty because they are made to believe they are bothering a deli employee who is engaged in a project on the sandwich-making board.
Indeed the parking lot at Charter Square is full of rushing-and-unsafe Asian drivers with their disgusting little foreign selfish me first attitudes. The Asian restaurant owners overload the dumpster locations in the lot with their absolutely filthy garbage that Lucky customers cannot avoid viewing in full grandeur. The trash smells so good in the summer heat too while you are losing your appetite while struggling solo to unload your delicious groceries into the motor vehicle. God knows what is chopped in to that awful Chinese chopstick fare as I know many in China find dog appetizing.
Dirty low life vagrants often loiter at the entances to this Lucky location and the complacent manager does not seem to care enough about his store to render the problem as these freeloading hobos are always coming back where they pose an unwelcome obstacle for the customers. The liberal politicians in California so unwisely keep enabling this scum by creating more social services, and not dealing with them with strict ultimatums and consequences to make communities safe-and-pleasant for the honest taxpayers.
So I sure long for the old days of Lucky stores and I would hope the only maybe able current management of the chain would want to return to those days too and thrive in a bastion of prosperity.
I have been very disheartened to return and experience the shameful erosion of the once proud Lucky Corporation. Be creative, be a community example and stand-up among the rest once again!
Come on and wake up. What is the matter with you sleepy people???
Nobody says "Thank you for shopping at Lucky, we look forward to seeing you again" anymore.
Nobody here even provides you with a bag to put your groceries in after not finding a carry basket to even attempt shopping, and in greediness want to charge you a dime for the sack privilege!!!??? What is up with that customer unfriendly practice I have recently found elsewhere in this increasingly crazy region???
The bald so-called manager here obviously does not know how to manage a progressive grocery store with innovative marketing techniques. He is not creative or thoughtful at all in luring more-and-more satisfied returning Lucky shoppers and being proactive cleaning up the act at Charter Square where he is apparently making a living.
I only hear excuses from he and the employees.

    Most Sincerely,
    Jeff of Salem-Silverton, Oregon
